Craniosacral Therapy

Many of us have busy lives and a lot going on, running on adrenaline in a state of constant activity, excitement or  stress... This may cause fatigue and anxiety, or sometimes a lack of clarity and focus that can hinder our progress and success in life.

In the craniosacral paradigm, health is governed by the minute motions in the bones and membranes of the skull and spine. These subtle rhythms are fundamental to the  self-healing process of the body. Craniosacral therapy has evolved out of osteopathy and aims at restoring these natural motions, should they seem to be restricted by trauma, injury or lifestyle. It is a very gentle, non-invasive, ‘clothes-on’ treatment that is suitable for the newborn to the elderly, as well as during pregnancy.

I am trained to gently put my hands on the body as a way of listening and feel where there’s tension or blockages to help release, destress, slow down and recharge. It’s like reminding the body how to deeply  relax and soften again!

I offer a safe, confidential and compassionate space where people can feel at ease to explore and understand their difficulties and suffering; I support them in the process of reconnecting with the body’s innate ability to balance and heal itself, so they can feel more resilient and live life with more vitality. It’s a bit like ‘mindfulness in relationship’, in the sense that the client is invited to tune in with body sensations and feelings, whilst the therapist is there to listen and hold a safe space for healing to happen.

Whilst client ages include newborn babies through to the elderly, I have a special interest in women in their thirties and forties who suffer from anxiety, depression and/or panic attacks, thus struggling to be in the present moment. Through light touch and empathic listening, I encourage them to reconnect with their body, mind and spirit as a whole. It is like awakening the inherent healing forces in the body.

Tensions in the body are released in  a supported and comfortable way, facilitating an increased sense of calm, wellbeing and clarity of mind. Stress is reduced and the body’s underlying energy is replenished.

Over a course of sessions, the process deepens and it may be possible to work through older and/or deeper patterns or traumas. It is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our inner self  by establishing a closer relationship with our body. Along this journey, clients feel more open, grounded, focused, more at ease with themselves and others; ultimately they gain confidence in who they truly are and the energy to live life to the full.

If there are significant health issues, weekly or fortnightly treatment is usually recommended and the frequency of sessions  is regularly reviewed. CST is even beneficial for those who are not experiencing any symptoms but feel the need to deeply rest, slow down and recharge the body’s energy levels.

Craniosacral therapy  doesn’t only work on the head & sacrum - it works with the whole body and the whole person. Particularly, we tune into the nervous system, allowing the body to downregulate and heal itself. Any part of the body can be treated depending on individual needs.
